Introduction to Animation

This studio course is an investigation of the moving image as an art form. The class will explore a variety of animation techniques ranging from camera-less and hand-drawn animation to cutout, and pixilation. Throughout the course, students will be exposed to artists working in the field and will consider animation in relation to other media such as illustration, painting, sculpture and photography. Students will participate in all aspects of production of animation, including brainstorming, storyboarding, editing, and screening of final works.
